Over the last few months my for you page on ALL social media platforms has been filled with criticism and hate for one of Ygs newest girl groups BabyMonster. But more so one of their most talented members… let’s get into it.
First things first, I don’t follow Yg or any newer groups they’ve debuted . The only group I’ve ever invested in was BlackPink and with the way their album rollouts and promo were planned , it made me not really care for the label and their team at all. So I really didn’t pay any attention to the “new BlackPink”.

But what has been Forced onto me was the piles and piles of hate one particular member was getting and it made me super curious as to why. After reading several comments and then watching videos I was left kind of confused. This young talented performer by the name of ahyeon was getting dragged left and right for get this , “OVER PERFORMING”. Now miss Ahyeon is the groups center and one of the main vocalists. And after researching a few videos, I found she’s also an incredible singer. And was praised when debuting for her dancing skills and how passionate of a performer she was by their choreographer. So to flash forward to BabyMonsters debut and see her getting hate is wild.
Over performing isn’t really a thing in the kpop world, seeing as other idols get praised for over performing and giving their all, but when it comes to Ahyeon, she’s “doing too much”. And I just don’t understand that.
If you watch some videos and compare her to her other members, then yes it would seem as though she’s out performing them or dancing too hard. But as the center of the group, it’s literally her job to stand out and do an amazing job. You can’t be the center and be lackluster, because then people will drag you for not doing enough.
I do agree she would work on matching the tone of the other members , just so they all seem in sync. But also the other members should work harder to be on the same Level as her. She shouldn’t have to tone down her performance level because the other girls aren’t there yet.
I think it’s also important to remember, BabyMonster is still a brand new group, they literally just debuted. And they’re TEENAGERS!!! Constructive criticism I’m sure is always welcome as long as it’s healthy, but the hate and dragging of these literal children is not okay!

She’s literally only 17 and in my opinion is doing an amazing job! The kpop industry is toxic enough, without fans adding hateful comments and harmful opinions. I think fans should be mindful of the ages of these girls and also remember…. At the end of the day … IDOLS ARE HUMANS TOO. Be careful the words that you speak, you never know how it will impact someone.
