Welcome Back to the blog, and Happy Almost Friday. Today we will be discussing 1999. Mark Lees 4th and final single from the FirstFruit.

Let’s get into it…..

Everytime Mark releases a single, I’m always like THIS IS OFFICIALLY MY FAVORITE!! And I don’t know how he keeps doing it to be honest! Because 1999 is now my favorite Mark single + video!

I don’t know what I was expecting, but it totally blew my mind . First things first, I LOVE long hair blonde mark, and teddy bear brown haired mark. But solo era first fruit BLACK haired mark has officially solidified himself in my top 3 favorite marks! He looks so handsome and fresh. And he’s absolutely glowing in his solo era!

I love this song and reminds of something Justin Timberlake would have put out back in his fresh solo era days! It’s completely fun, fresh, and definitely mark core. He’s time traveling through all of his different time eras and we even get little mark in this video! it’s so adorable and one of my favorite points in the video!

This song has been on a constant loop in my head, even when I first heard the entire album, I didn’t think it would be as catchy as it’s become! But here I am literally walking around “99..99…99”. Mark definitely knew what he was doing when he went into that studio and started cooking!

I saw this fan say that mark was one of the few idols who was trying to become more than an idol and be a world respected musician! while I’m sure this album fits into the category of “kpop”, even if it wasn’t in Korean and entirely in English, it would do well overseas! I’m also surprised he did his album partly in Korean, when a lot of his coworkers have done their entire solo albums in English. Determined to break into the American market!

But mark is showing once again, you don’t have to sacrifice who you are to win! And when you stay true to yourself , the success will eventually follow!
