This is a much different post today than usual but needs to be discussed. So let’s get into it but before that….. I am a liberal queer early 30s sex positive feminist BLACK WOMAN. I will ALWAYS stand with women and the side of the victims! And to simply put it- I’m sort of a misandrist at heart.:)

In 2021 alternative singer FKA TWIGS came out and sued ex-boyfriend Shia labeouf for abuse. I remember back when they started dating during covid and I was so excited, I loved Shia as an actor and grew up with him on Disney channel. I grew to love Fka over the years and she became one of my favorite artists, so it was literally like my dream couple.

Only to find out a year or two later that she was completely unhappy, scared for her life, and was being so abused , the housekeeper had to break down the door to save her after hearing how violent a fight between the pair had gotten one night.

Now before you say “ she was just an angry woman trying to ruin his hard worked career”. Fka is extremely private and has only spoken up ONCE about a previous relationship where her ex was letting his fans degrade and send racist threats to her everyday . So it seems like any normal person, she only seems to speak up when her mental health and safety is at risk.

It is also extremely hard for women but especially women of color to come forward and speak on their abuse because, the world rarely believes us. And believes we have some sort of high pain tolerance . so it was for sure such a brave move on her part, knowing how famous and loved he is. And there was a high risk NO ONE WOULD BELIVE HER.

Of course after that very public interview and announcement of her suing, he came forward apologizing and blaming it all on his childhood trauma and alcohol abuse. People seemed split in two, more than enough people accepted his apology, while it still lingered for Fka fans. But of course as Hollywood does and the general male driven world love to do, him being an abuser was swept under the rug . Shia then disappeared for a few years and everyone mostly forgot about it. Fka publicly moved on and entered a new healing era and made new music.

Flash forward to 2024 and Shia has returned to the acting world and red carpet via the Cannes film festivals, and the world is in a complete meltdown over how “good”, “healthy”, and “daddy” he looks. Everyone is praising him and seemingly forgetting that he is an abuser and shouldn’t be treated like a king at all.

It’s also good to note Shia has had problematic issues with costars as well. Not just past lovers, even so people have refused to work with him or complained about him. I completely understand people can have issues, work on them and change. But when the said issues are not getting talked about and handled with the right care , it kinda of seems pointless to be praising someone for “being healthy” and “changing”, when it could totally not even be the case.

Hollywood is known for supporting abusers and not batting an eye when an allegation comes out. But this year has been the year a LOT of stars have been outed and started to be taken down, so I have hope for a new world, a better world. A world where awful men, no matter how rich, get the karma they deserve!

Fka twigs, definitely does not deserve to be called a liar or have her trauma held so lightly. Or to see her abuser walk free and have a great career with praise. The world owes her an apology!
