Welcome Back To AsToldByShanise! Today we will be discussing the sudden departure of NCTS wonder boy and all rounder,( MARK LEE).

Let’s get into it…..

I woke up 30 mins shy of 5:00 to frantic texts from my friends telling me mark lee, had left NCT AND SM COMPLETELY. I jumped up and checked the news and it was true. Sm later released a statement confirming that they had deep discussions with Mark and they mutually agreed to end his contract on April 8! I was literally so shocked. Mark has been in every single Nct unit since debut and since he was 16. He’s literally the face of Nct right along with taeyong, one of the faces biggest faces of Sm , and overall kpop! He’s created such a legacy and he’s only 26! To walk away from all of that at a sudden drop of a hat, I know it’s a shock to all of us kpop fans and nct lovers ! But I know he made this decision with 200% clarity and really thought it through! I know it wasn’t easy to walk away from something he gave his entire youth and half of his adult life too. And I know he LOVES his dreamies and 127 brothers. And the way they’ve all spoken out in support of him and his decision to walk away, shows how much of a genuine good person mark is !

I as fan was devastated and cried the entire day . From 4 in the morning , until I got off at 5 at work. It was an emotionally draining day. Mark has given his entire youth and teenage years to kpop. He’s been severely overworked and underpaid for YEARS. So I’m not surprised he’s walking away , but as a fan it hurts . I’m sure being overworked to that degree has changed his perspective on the music industry and his passion. so much so that he just quit! It also opens our eyes more to this toxic environment and industry . We already knew it was bad, but how bad to the point a popular and super loved idol just walks away ??

I hope in the future, when he’s ready, he comes back and gives us more beautiful music. But until then I fully support his decision to rest and relax. He’s one of the kpop idols who deserves it the most !! If he takes a 5 year break and comes back, I’ll be right here waiting eagerly . No matter what!

Mark Lee, we are so proud of you for putting yourself first! And now you finally get to rest! Enjoy your time off and enjoy finally getting to ….LIVE.
