Welcome back to the blog! Today we will be discussing Jennie Kim second solo endeavor “Mantra”. Let’s get into it…….

After hearing that we were FINALLY getting a second era from Jennie , I was really excited. Jennie has done features on other artists song and was recently even acting on a Tv show called the “Idol”. All while being on tour with BlackPink for almost two years. So she’s been pretty booked and Busy.

Honestly seeing all the promo pictures made me so pumped to see what this new era would bring. And it gives me… something .

Mantra is about how to be THAT girl and own it. It’s fun, simple and sassy. And that’s totally Jennie, minus the simple part. I was kind of underwhelmed to be honest. I was just expecting something more. She looks incredible and gives us so many different looks and vibes. And she’s as always oozing with confidence! This song was totally made with her in mind, and I couldn’t see any other idol pulling it off.

In terms of BlackPink solos I still see people loving Lisa’s and Rosie’s more. The hype around Lisa’s second comeback era was insane. I didn’t feel the same hype around jennies. I do like the song but I know Jennie can do more and give us more! I just know this song will have to grow on me a bit more.

I give it 3/5, it’s fun and will get stuck in your head. But I was still left unsatisfied. But I’m staying tuned to see what else she brings to the table.
