Welcome Back to the Blog! Today we will be reviewing Katseye remix for their hit single Gnarly featuring Ice Spice!

Let’s get into it…

First things first, I love the original Gnarly, and didn’t see the need for a remix or a collaboration. If anything they could have released a longer version with more crazy lyrics and we would have ate that up! But instead they decided to collaborate with Ice Spice.

At first I was not feeling this collaboration, only because Ice Spice has completely fallen off the grid and been in the news for negative things in the past year. And she hasn’t grown musically, so I didn’t think she’d have anything positive to offer. I love the old Ice spice because her music is fun, catchy and not to be taken seriously. But it’s almost like she’s stuck in that and refuses to grow. ( she made an entire song about poop and farts.) and had it not been for tiktok , she would have flopped horribly.

But to my ultimate surprise , she comes on this song and completely devours her little verse. She being off beat and chaotic herself, totally fits the vibe of the song. And now I’m thinking there couldn’t have been a better person to feature.

I give this remix 5/5, because Gnarly on it’s own is already a BOP. But adding Ice Spice, definitely added a layer of chaos the song needed.
