My Ego Told Me Too Album Review

By : Shanise Lachelle

Welcome back to the blog and happy Sunday! Today we will be discussing Leighanne Pinnocks debut album, My Ego Told Me To!

Let’s get into it….

First things first, major congratulations are in order as Leigh-Anne has now become the first black female artist to have a top 3 Uk album and a number one independent album!!! She now joins the other little mix girls , who also had top 3 albums! 3 really is a lucky number for mixers and the girls . All good things come in 3s!!

After her debut Ep No Hard Feelings, I really was enjoying her solo era. It took a lot of courage and confidence to go solo first out of the little mix and she opened with such a banger ! Although my favorite from that era was, My Love. something still felt off about that era .

Fast forward almost 2 years later and we now have an official debut album and she’s now independent! she now has come out to say her and her ex label couldn’t agree with how to continue on with her career. They obviously wanted to push her into a more conventional pop girlie route and that makes sense with her debut single being ,DON’T SAY LOVE. Which didn’t make sense overall because the rest of the ep didn’t sound like the lead single . And with My love , being my favorite from that era, it was also Leigh’s favorite. And she wanted that to be her lead single and the direction she was going in and they said no! So it’s clear they wanted different things and she ended up going independent! Which was itself such a bold move , but it ended up paying off huge !

This album is 100% cohesive and the vibes are all Leigh! From her Caribbean background, to her love of the genre R&b. You can tell she and her team really poured all of their souls into to this album! And I’m so obsessed with it, she now has my second favorite solo era out of the little mix girls !

As a proud little mix fan from the very beginning, it’s so beautiful to see these girls grow and become such amazing solo artists and women! From DNA TO MY EGO TOLD ME TOO, Leigh you’ve always had pure magic and ambition! And we FINALLY get to see you shine all on your own! This is a fantastic album and tribute to your culture, your passion and your family! Thank you for inviting us into a little part of your world!!

*Now bring on the world tour !!!
