Welcome Back to AsToldByShanise! And happy Saturday, today we will be briefly discussing Manons hiatus status. And what it could mean for the future of Katseye .

Let’s get into it….

Manon has been on hiatus since February, and there has not been an official announcement or update as to when she coming back. Now I’ve been apart of a few kpop hiatus! I know what they look like. And they can all look and feel different.

When renjun of Nct was put on hiatus , he was left out of part one of the tour and we barely saw him out in the open when it first begun. Then near the end of his hiatus , we saw him more frequently, he was included in the next comeback , and the last part of the tour . There was also updates concerning his mental health and when he would be back . When Lia of Itzy went on hiatus , it was close to a year and we didn’t see her until it was over. She was not included in their Born To Be era. Except for one song she wrote for midzy. Then when she was announced to be coming back they recorded all of their born to be album to include her . So I’m well aware how these “breaks” can go.

The difference being when hybexgeffen put Manon on hiatus for mental health, she immediately came out right after and said she was fine and healthy . Which no other idol has ever done while being out on hiatus. Which shows there’s a lot of drama and misunderstanding going on behind the scenes .

We’ve seen Manon out and about living her life and truly showing us she’s fine and healthy . She’s taking pictures with fans and generally seems okay.

Nothing about her hiatus is making sense and they’ve yet to calm fans down with an update . We don’t know when she’s coming back or if she even will. Kpop contracts are like death grips, it’s nearly impossible to get out of , without being sued. instead they used fans being upset and curious about her being apart of pinky up era, to gain Pr and attention for Katseye . She was erased from the single and video , even though leaked story boards and rehearsals show she was indeed in the song . And now she was left out of performing for COACHELLA, even though they were on contract to have all 6 girls perform.

It does feel based in racism and them purposely leaving Manon out . They keep trying to paint her as sick and lazy. But she keeps proving them wrong by showing she’s healthy . And by working twice as hard to keep up with the other girls , who keep in mind have been performing since they were children. I don’t find that lazy at all, but rather super impressive!

I unfortunately believe Manon was never supposed to be in the group if it wasn’t up to fan voting . They clearly didn’t want her in the group from dream academy, when they gave her the edit they did. So since then they’ve tried to find ways to keep her hidden or mistreat her . But it’s becoming to obvious and fans are outraged. So the next best thing is just to put her on a break until they can figure out what do with her and how to get rid of her . which is awful and must feel so devastating to her .

Pinky up is definitely hybexgeffen soft launching the girls as 5 to see how the public handles it. And to be honest, they wouldn’t be the first girl group in history to loose a member and keep going . Most of the time it works out ,( DESTINYS CHILD, LITTLE MIX ). And then sometimes it doesn’t ,( Fifth Harmony , Tlc). the problem is how they’re going about it . They used Manon for her cool girl status and her being the black girl to gain popularity for the group in the us! Because besides Lara, no other girl has that IT GIRL PERSONA.

The future of Katseye however is not looking good, without Manon, they’re not a global group and nothing different from what we already see in kpop. Their songs aren’t getting any better and they literally sound like they’re all just made to go viral on TikTok. Having the girls NOT speak or show ANY time of support for Manon either , is not a good look. Especially since before this hiatus , they had these fun relationships with her and they Called her their “sister”. And said Katseye is 6! Now I know they may not be able to speak on the situation, but surely they can show love and support? I don’t see how that’s breaking any rules . It just shows these girls may have never liked Manon. And never got over the beef from Dream academy. and they care MORE about being famous rather than an actual sisterhood. And I know in the end it’s a job and business, but it just doesn’t look good for the entire group. And their claim of sisterhood now hangs on the line.

And if they were just going to use and dispose of her like shes nothing. and hasn’t worked her butt off for 3 years, they could have just left the poor girl alone in Switzerland!

Manon , we see you and we love you! You’re bigger than the program, and the universe has got your back! What’s done in the dark, always comes to the light !!
