Recently at Comic Con Robert Downey Jr aka Iron Man , was announced to be fully coming back to the marvel universe. But NOT as the beloved Iron Man, this time as the villain! Let’s get into it….

The very last time we saw RDJ in the marvel universe was 2019. (Which myself couldn’t believe it had been that long, had to google it.) and most of the original avengers cast was said to be done and retired from any marvel movies. Most noticeable RDJ as he’s the oldest and started the marvel superhero franchise with Iron Man.

But he’s now coming back in a big way and for the first time ever… the bad guy. He will be playing doctor doom and the marvel fandom doesn’t know how to feel about it. On one hand we cheer because we get the amazing and charismatic acting of Robert. On the other hand our beloved Iron Man is now Doctor Doom… huh?! Doctor Doom is one of the main villains of the fantastic Four franchise. And was made more known in the 2005 film.

With my little knowledge of Doom, I do think he’s a pretty unique and cool villain and would LOVE to see Robert’s take on him and how he will bring him to life. I also think it will be interesting to see him go from being a character that everyone loves to someone everyone will hate. Also will him being Doom make him an anti-hero? Will people now become obsessed with Doom all because RDj is now playing him?! It’s also not lost on me how phase two wasn’t all that popular or successful within the marvel fandom, so now they’re bringing in the big guns to bring fans back and get them excited. I’m also pretty sure they’re paying Robert a huge advance to get him to come back.

Either way, I can’t wait to see what he brings to the character! To be completely honest this is the most exciting marvel news we’ve gotten in a while and I’ve slowly fallen out of the fandom and haven’t been too excited about phase two. so here’s to hoping it’s not a flop!
