Favorite Wicked Songs

By: Shanise Lachelle

Welcome Back to the blog and Happy Monday! Today we will be discussing my favorite musical numbers from the film Wicked! Let’s get into it…

1.

Jonathan Bailey& cast – Dancing Through Life

The dance number was just so much fun, larger than life and included most of the main cast! Jonathan as Fiyero is so deliciously charming! As soon as he came on the screen , I completely melted. He’s so Disney prince coded and this musical number just proved that! I see why Glinda was swooning and planning weddings in her head.

2.

Cynthia& Ariana- What is this feeling

A introduction into their enemies to besties story line and completely hilarious. They absolutely hated each other in the beginning and it was for sure entertaining to watch. Their voices also blend so well together, it was truly magical .

3.

Ariana grande : Popular

Absolutely nailed this number and it was very Glinda! Very big, pink , and over the top dramatic. Even if you don’t like Glinda or Ariana , I’m pretty sure this musical number makes you walk out of the theater LOVING HER.

4.

Cynthia Erivo- Defying Gravity

I could literally write an essay on this number and how they stretched it out to almost 15 minutes, made it all that much more powerful! I literally couldn’t wait for the movie to get to the last act so I could see and hear this song! And oh my goodness she did this song justice. The moment she’s falling and sees baby Elphaba, is the moment I started crying all over again! To see her gain her confidence and strength , was such a beautiful moment in the film! And when she rose to the sky proudly and her cape started growing, cue the waterworks again! This film was just so beautifully done. I could talk about it for hours!!!

I literally loved every musical number in this film, but these are the ones that stole my heart off first watch! Such a great film and a great watch to start off your holidays this season! If you haven’t seen it yet, literally Run to the movies!

You won’t be disappointed, I promise !
