Welcome Back to the Blog, today we will be talking about Season 7 of Love Is Blind, and the racism that felt so uncomfortably normalized on our television screens!

Let’s get into it…..

When going into this new season , I was happy and so giddy! I absolutely adore season 6 and PPG! And it instantly made me a love island fan. But I deep down knew to keep my expectations low and not get too far ahead of myself. And boy was I right .

All together this show was a Hot mess from beginning to the middle. And i literally stopped watching the last 4/6 episodes. It became clear the producers were just chasing the high off last season and. just hired a lot of social media influencers who were playing love island like a game of survivor. But a few contestants that stood out were Huda, Chelley and Olandria. And not for the reason you would think or that they would be the new PPG.

When Huda popped on our screens this summer , I thought she was so beautiful and she was a mom! And I think that’s the first time a contestant has been a mother on this show. But just as quickly as I was excited for middle eastern representation , I left very disappointed and with a bad taste in my mouth.

Not only was she rude and dismissive. She was highly volatile and had many moments that made you question her mental health. This was a mother on tv, loosing her mind over a two week fling . Now I’m not new to love reality shows and I know there’s people who go on these shows and quickly get attached. But this was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. had any black woman or man acted the way she acted they would have been kicked off . And hated on for WEEKS. Yet Huda has been given a huge platform and followers. All because she’s pretty.

And once it all hit the fan, fans alike started to bully Huda and take things too far, to the point the producers put up an anti-bullying message on the next episode . this gave Huda her loyal band of young and naive followers. Women who could see themselves in her unhealed trauma and outbursts. She then became the VICTIM OF SEASON 7.

But the real victims were her so called “sisters” Chelley and Olandria. Two gorgeous and confident chocolate women, who held themselves at the standards Huda pretended too. For the most part the girls supported Huda in all her antics and had her bad through it all.

Until the stand on your business and heart rate challenges, and things seem to switch up a bit. It is to be noted the girls seem drained of all the Huda dramatics over the weeks. But those two challenges seem to really show them who she was. she craved male validation no matter if the guy was coupled up or not. And she pretended to be all naive when called out and would immediately start crying.

This brought on a new level of disgusting racism and bullying I’ve seen from a show in a years!! The fans of Huda dragged Olandria and Chelley for weeks. Right up until the end of the show and still are pushing the narratives that they are “MEN GIRLS”.

Which pushed the narrative that black women always have to be guarded and can never show their emotions the way other race of women are allowed . They are never given the same grace. Not to mention both Chelley and Olandria later apologized to Huda in the villa on camera and it still wasn’t enough.

No statement from love island or peacock was ever released on the behalf of Chelley and Olandria. They quickly stood up for Huda but not for Chelley and Olandria. Which shows what Leah from last season said was true. A lot of the producers on the show are lowkey racist and problematic. they will edit together scenes to portray the black girls as the bullies, and the white or no black girls as the queens of the villa.

It’s a story as old as time, but it’s shocking to see in the year 2025, where we have progressed so much . everyone has now left the villa and go on their separate interviews. And for Huda to see the girls as her sisters, she never not ONCE sticks up for them or clears up the rumors.

She instead goes on multiple interviews and continues to say she was bullied and felt alone. And if anyone watched the same season they would be confused. Chelley and Olandria had her back , every time they could. They constantly validated her. For her to now get some fame and let it go all to her head is disappointing.

As a fellow woman of color she should have stuck with them and by them like she did in the villa. But it’s become clear , she just used them as support and to get by. she was never really their friend and she proved that even more so when they got out of the villa.

As the reunion just finished being filmed, I hope she does take some accountability and apologizes. But if she shows up, I know it’s just gonna be the Huda show part two. And her just being the victim and taking zero accountability what’s so ever.

This season has turned me back off love island and I don’t think I’ll be watching anymore US seasons. The disrespect and racism they allowed towards Chelley and Olandria was sickening. And I hope the girls never work with them again after all this is said and done!
