Perrie of mega girl group little mix and second member to go solo, has just released her second single Tears! Let’s dig into it…..

First things first, out of all the girls Perrie was definitely top of my list to see what she would do on her own. I knew each girl would stick to their formula and each of their solos would be much very much “them” and their aesthetic. So it’s not been a surprise the easy route Perrie has taken and how underwhelming her first two singles have been. Now I say underwhelming in the sense that Perrie has over 10 years in the business and has the xfactor training , where she was taught by some of the literal best in the business. So to say I just expected more in her singles.. is a bit of an understatement.
Perrie has some of the best vocals of her generation and her voice can literally fit any genre. Tears is a sappy 70s pop throwback about not letting an ex control your emotions anymore and they won’t be “getting any more of your tears”. I know Perrie, and this song and video is definitely her to a ten! It’s all hippie dippy and sassy, and that’s totally Perrie all the way. So I can see why she loves it so much.

It does in fact get stuck in your head and it is super catchy. Reluctantly I’ve found myself singing the chorus over and over. Which isn’t necessarily a sign of a hit song but a song that is catchy, and if promoted right could be a huge summer success. It almost feels reminiscent of Harry Styles watermelon sugar but not done nearly to the perfection that was.
I give it 3/5, it’s catchy and the video is fun. And she looks amazing, and of course she sounds incredible. I just wanted…. MORE. This seems to be the pattern with the little mix girls. Even when the group was active , I was always left wanting just a little bit more! And they’ve seem to kept to that routine with their solos.
I’m happy she’s content and making the music she’s proud of and wants to make. I just wish she’d done something different than what we expected or chose a different second single all together.
I am still excited for the full EP or album, and can’t wait for the ballads. I know those will be powerful.
I don’t mean to be a negative Nancy, it’s just I’ve been a fan since xfactor and they’ve always done just enough without pushing the envelope completely. I still am super proud of them for even going solo and being successful while at it.
And can’t wait to see what else Perrie has in store for us!!!
