Welcome Back to The blog , today we will be reviewing The FirstFruit! Mark Lees first solo album!

Let’s get into it…..

This album is 100% Mark . From what he’s shown nctzens and the world over the years and how consistent he’s been. Now I know all idols have a manufactured personality and we will never know the real Mark lee. But I do believe Mark is one of the few idols that shows bits and pieces of his true personality and you can feel it’s authenticity in this album.

I love how the album starts with Torontos Window and how that sets the tone for the entire album later on. It’s such a beautiful opening to a diverse album. I used to hate skits and interludes on albums when I was younger. But now that I’m older, I appreciate it as a form of story telling and moving the albums along with purpose. And each interlude mark includes in this album helps move the albums along to a different section of music. And each interlude is as different and beautiful as the next.

The collection of songs from 1999 to Loser, shows us the many different artistic sides to Mark. I wasn’t sure what genre he would do or stick to. And I wasn’t sure if he would let SM touch it and it would just be another soft Nct core type album. But if Sm has done ANYTHING right, it’s let each member handle their solos in the way they would honestly like to be perceived. Outside of being in their group NCT. he was right when he said his album wasn’t any one genre but the genre MARK himself. And HELLO, I love vocalist mark ! We need to hear him sing more ! There were moments when I was taken aback by a verse or note! I’m so happy he could showcase his full ability on this album, HIS album!

I’m not gonna lie, especially towards the end of the album is where it gets a little emotional and starts to feel like a Christian album. And at first I thought it would be a bit cringe, but it’s actually so well done and so beautiful. If mark put out an entire Christian album, I would buy and listen to it in a heartbeat!

We end the album with MOMS INTERLUDE, Journey Mercies, and Too Much. and what a gorgeous and full way to end an album!

I understand now why he pushed this album back so many times to get it 100% right! This album is very well thought out and put together !! And genuinely is one of the best kpop solos I’ve heard in a while. It’s true to his faith and beliefs, while also having fun bops on the album as well. He completely made an album for himself and his fans, and not the charts! And I can respect that, his love for music shines through this album. And he will always win for that alone!

Mark you are so blessed and The FirstFruit is a beautiful album! Well done !!!!
