Recent Horror

By: Shanise Lachelle

Another day, another horror post! Let’s get into the recent horror I’ve watched and what I thought of them!

Tarot- to be completely honest , I knew what I was getting myself into when I watched this. I knew it was gonna be ridiculous and not scary! And more so for the pg-13 audience. And that’s exactly what it was. The only cool things were the kills and how the cards came to life. 3/5
Chernobyl Diaries-A recent rewatch and just wasn’t as scary as I remember it. Horror has come such a long way, that now what once was creepy and scary is no longer either. I found this movie boring. There were many times I wanted and waited for it to really go there and it never did. It didn’t know if it wanted to be found footage style or a regular horror style film, which was annoying. And I feel it would’ve been more effective as a found footage movie! For a RATED R film it just didn’t do enough for me. The crazed patients we could’ve seen more of and actually seen them killing the tourists. But all we get is glimpses and boom a main character is dead. Love the story line and found it super creative. And I hated but also loved the ending. So for that I’ll give it 3/5.

Underwater– great casting, great script and I didn’t find ANY characters annoying. The plot was super creative and creepy. And for someone who is scared of the ocean and the fact we haven’t discovered even HALF of it, made this movie super effective for me. I like how we didn’t see the creatures until closer to the end. And how quickly it goes from 0-100. Literally the movie starts off with a bang and doesn’t let up. I am so terrified of the ocean and being that far down , that I felt so bad for the characters. Because I couldn’t even imagine making it through. 5/5

Bride of Chucky- Honestly just wanted to rewatch out of boredom and wanted a good laugh. It’s beyond me how anyone finds chucky scary, but I did get a good laugh out of it. And definitely might be my favorite chucky movie out of the franchise.

I can’t wait to dive into more horror/ scary films this spooky season! What’s some of your favorite top horror films?
