Fresh off nearly a year hiatus, Sm had just announced that Seunghan would be returning to Riize. he has now come out to say he’s officially leaving the group! Let’s get into it….

I’m not a huge fan of Riize and I tend to mind my business when it doesn’t concern my ults. But this is a situation that has come across many fandoms and is becoming a real issue in Korea!

Fresh off the news of his return , the boys of Riize were super excited to have Seunghan back! Member wonbin even expressing his excitement and defending Seunghan return. But toxic Korean ot6 fans were not having it and started sending death threats, and demanding SM remove him immediately.

Seunghan was put on hiatus last year after a “scandal” broke of him having a life pre-debut, ( a girlfriend and smoking. ) people with life’s outside of kpop and fully developed frontal lobes, thought the drama and press surrounding his past was stupid! He’s a human being, a young attractive talented 20 something. Of course he had personal relationships before he became famous! The Korean media literally ripped him apart so badly he was forced to go on a hiatus.

Fast forward to now and because toxic fans don’t want him to come back, and they started loudly protesting Sm , and sending him death threats . He has chosen himself to remove himself from the group. Mind you the boys of Riize are in Madrid currently and he’s left to be alone during this and make this tough decision on his own.

I am so disgusted in the fans and the overall fan culture in Korea ! I love a good delusional para-social relationship, but when it comes to taking it seriously and threatening the idols real life , it’s not okay. There’s a line and fans have long been crossing it! Especially when it comes to kpop and the amount of fan service they have to do. These fans feel like they own these idols and can treat them however.

Sm should have never allowed the “fans” to send death threats and funeral wreaths to the building, knowing he would see it.

My heart breaks for him, he apologized over and over , and accepted his punishment. He took his hiatus like a man and worked so hard behind the scenes to come back eventually. My heart breaks for the boys of RIIZE, to be so excited to have their brother back and be away while he’s dealing with this nonsense. I really can’t wrap my head around why these fans act like this and think it’s okay?! It’s absolutely disgusting and they should be appalled. God forbid he takes those threats to heart and we loose him forever . Knowing how serious mental health is in kpop and how many idols we’ve lost to things like this, makes me so scared for his well being.

I can’t imagine being dragged for almost a year for my past (normal) life then getting to come back to work and STILL behind hated.

Sm has messed up and immediately needs to fix this! He has made his choice and we will respect it. But SM has once again failed at protecting their artists. When is enough going to be enough?!
