Welcome back to the blog! This year in kpop has perhaps been the most stressful since I became a fan. I’ve been a fan since 2020 and I’ve never experienced this many downfalls and this much insanity in such a short amount of time! Let’s get into it…

It all started with the absurd hate train that lasted way too long with girl group Le sserafim. After a less than impressive Coachella performance, the girls were dragged and hated on for nearly a year. So much so it started to affect their mental health and they had turned off their comments on ALL social media.

Then we have seunghan from Riize being put on Hiatus for nearly 8 months due to his private life pre-debut leaking. He was asked to come back , just to get massive amounts of hate again . And in the span of two days just short of his announcement of a return , he left the group indefinitely. This has spun every fandom coming together to boycott Sm. And Kpop stores and media outlets all over the world are starting to pickup on the toxicity of the Kpop world!

Then we have Taeil from Nct who was fired and removed immediately, after SM was informed from the police of his involvement with a sexual abuse case. That Taeil himself admitted to having some parts of. That itself hit me so hard, because he had such a beautiful voice and he was one of my favorite Nct members. After that I started to take a little break from kpop. My safe heaven was starting to become my little hell.

Suga from BTS being punished and ridiculed for weeks over falling off his scooter drunk just seconds away from his front door. Which is wild considering Taeil has not been dragged to court and ridiculed publicly like this at all. Korea really does pick and choose who they are gonna make an example out of . But pretty much everyone with a fully developed frontal lobe agrees, this entire scooter situation is silly and didn’t require this much attention whatsoever !!

Then we have girl group New Jeans who came out ,unknown to Hybe and went live and outed the entire agency and their team for them being mistreated. A lot of us thought for sure we’d wake up to news the next day of their contracts being terminated and them being fired. But so far they are still pretty much active . Member Hanni even just appeared in court to speak on the matter.

Weeks later we now have Hybe being exposed for being involved in a lot of petty leaking of other groups information, looking up popular group ships, and other weird information. Like how tall certain members of a popular boy group are.

As Hybe was seen as one of the golden agency’s, due to Bts and txt coming from them. And loving them so much, we thought the agency was a good as gold. Well as good as you can be in such a toxic industry. But it turns out they’re just as bad and maybe even worse.

This entire year has gone from bad to worse. And although I do love that things are being brought to the light and we’re seeing these business people for what they really are,(MONEY HUNGRY), even if we kind of already knew that. We just didn’t know how delusional and desperate they were. And how they mistreat their artists.

Kpop used to be so fun and I used to be able to stay away from all the craziness and the drama. But with it coming at us in every direction , there’s no escaping it. I’m kind of glad a lot of my boy groups are enlisting now, while all this craziness is happening. Hopefully when they return it’ll all be settled somewhat. but sucks the girl groups STILL have to go through it.

Even though it sucks and has been stressful, this may be what kpop needs fully. A clean house and new standards, because at this rate , all we’ll have is exhausted over worked idols and fed up fans. Kpop cannot afford to survive off that alone.

2024 has been such a fabulous year of great music and comebacks! It’s sad that the drama and craziness is overshadowing a lot of the idols hard work.
