Welcome Back to the Blog and Happy Friday! Today we will be discussing Smile 2, let’s get into it.

First things first, I was skeptical of a sequel. I liked the first smile movie well enough and knew they may try to push out a few more. But I don’t know if I felt like to was necessary to do so. But I’m so glad they did , because Smile 2 is definitely one of my favorite horror films this year! I can’t wait to go back and rewatch it from start to finish. Definitely 5/5, completely perfect horror film and even better sequel!

Naomi Scott, (yes princess jasmine , pink power ranger AND a Charlie’s Angel), is absolutely outstanding!! She plays struggling recovering drug addict pop star Skye Riley . I completely believed every frame, and word that left her mouth! She’s such a gorgeous actress and I’m so happy to see her getting her shine! And after watching this film, would love to see her in more horror! She carried this entire film on her back and her performance was so heartbreaking.

The story follows Skye Riley as she’s restarting her life , after getting clean and loosing her ex in a fatal car crash. She’s of course struggling to stay focused and back on track, when she hits up a friend for pain killers. And that’s when the movie starts. And it literally doesn’t stop for the entire 2 hours. At some points I felt so bad for skye,and felt like the smile demon was literally dragging her through the mud! the film was so perfectly paced and adrenaline inducing, I didn’t even realize it was over 2 hours long!

Although I know this scene was meant to be scary ,( and it was VERY creepy), it was also highly entertaining. I just knew these actors were actual professional dancers and this was one of my favorite scenes throughout the entire film. And if I were skye,I too would have lost my mind after that! i like how the smile demon seems to only attack someone who is mentally struggling or has a tragic past that they can’t escape . Which shows that the undertones to these films are a bit deeper than we all think. It also touches on how superficial and obscene the whole celebrity world is! Because as Skye continues to unravel and become clearly unwell, everyone around her is STILL pushing her and wanting her to tour. They don’t really care how her health is, as long as she gets up on the stage and does her job.

Everything about this movie was gorgeously shot, from the opening scene to the closing scene! Which leaves everyone in that scene in kind of a bad way. And could very well lead to a Smile 3. But I don’t think we need another Smile. With the way things left off, that would just be another apocalyptic movie. And that’s been done and done to the point where that story line is beyond tired.

Overall I enjoyed this film so much and it’s definitely going to become an instant rewatch and favorite!
