Welcome Back To The Blog ! And happy Sunday, today we will be discussing Manons sudden hiatus and what this means for the future of Katseye!

It’s a tale as old as time, there’s a new hit pop girlgroup on the rise and the token black girl is taking on all the hate and getting loads of racism thrown her way! We’ve seen this with little mix and Leigh Anne. We’ve seen it with Normani and fifth harmony . We’ve also seen it with Kat Graham and Vampire Diaries. So it’s not really surprising to the black community that this is once again happening, but it’s just so unfortunate and sad.

Manon is the literal face of Katseye and they literally begged her down to be apart of the group and Dream Academy . Only to treat her really weird since she’s agreed. Kpop is literally founded on the basis of black American culture , but that doesn’t stop their industry from being very racist. They may not be an actual kpop group, but they are signed under a kpop label and they are being shown to the world as a global kpop girl group. Which means they are taking some of the kpop guidelines and trying to apply them to the western music world . Katseye music is hit or miss. Hits being Gabriela , gameboy, and Touch. Miss being internet girl and gnarly, ( No matter how much of an over night success it became ), it’s very much one of their weaker songs !

All that being said , Manon is the face of the group and that is her role and what she was hired for. But for months now hybe has been weird with what she allow her to be apart of . It’s subtle but very obvious to their fans . It’s almost like they’ve been testing to see if Katseye will still be popular without Manon.

She’s been know to have a weak immune system and her work method is tied to her Swedish roots. Where they prioritize their well being before the hustle . But that didn’t stop hybe and Netflix from painting her as the “lazy black girl”. Which is a label that has unfortunately stuck with her , no matter how hard she works !!

She’s allowed to be apart of bigger events like , the Grammys , festivals , and tour. But when it comes to smaller things, she’s almost always absent . And the narrative being “she’s sick”. Which could very well be the case, she’s even come out to say herself on some cases she was in fact sick. It’s just now that they are putting her on a mandatory hiatus, and she’s coming out to say she’s fine and healthy. It’s not adding up, and it seems she’s trying to say something without getting in trouble with hybe.

I only became interested in Katseye when I saw Manon on social media and saw how they were bullying her in Dream academy. And Manon is my bias , and the only reason I ride so hard for those girls. I do think ALL the girls are talented and bring something special to the group, but there is no Katseye without Manon. And I simply won’t be interested if she’s no longer involved.

Manon is definitely bigger than the group and the program, and that’s why they’re mad!!! She’s definitely the most popular and loved , and she had famous friends before Katseye, just by being herself! She was also very famous on Pinterest. She wasn’t even sure she wanted to be in Katseye until they begged her and she realized she loved it. and from the documentary it seems Manon is very independent and when she doesn’t want to do something, you can’t make her . And that’s not ideal for an idol!

All I’m saying is if she leaves , a lot of fans will leave and the black community will stand behind her 100%. I’m not even sure what’s going on, but it’s all shady and nothing is adding up!

Manon we love you and deserve so much better !!
