Horror I’ve Watched Lately

By : Shanise Lachelle

As we were are well into the pre-fall month , I have already started my horror movie watching. And by the end of September will have my Halloween decorations out and ready. Today we will be talking about these 3 films I’ve recently watched and what I genuinely thought about them.

A remake (obviously) of the cult classic CARRIE. I seriously thought it was a genuine remake and it got the job done. Chloe grace and Julianne Moore are superb as mother and daughter. I didn’t feel this remake was entirely necessary. And it didn’t bring anything new, but it was a great effort. I give it 3/5. I would definitely watch again, but only during October and if I’m bored.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this movie, but it does follow directly after the original Carrie film. I enjoyed watching this film, as it was somewhat different from the first Carrie film. It had a whole different vibe. And I loved the nostalgia I got from it being an end of 90s early 2000s horror film. Definitely did not feel bad for any of the kids at end and they had it coming in my opinion. It did get a bit silly with cgi and such towards the end and I almost couldn’t take it seriously. But definitely a solid runner up. 4/5
I’ve seen this movie on every streaming service over the last 5 years and never watched it … until now. And honestly I don’t know what to think. The acting was decent and the story line was different and cool. But as it’s another 2000s horror film, the graphics were a bit dodgy and I found it hard to take seriously at times. I did really enjoy the plot and would love a remake ! 4/5

Overall the theme for these 3 films were (female rage and revenge.) And that’s a movie theme I do actually enjoy watching. for the years that these came out, I think they were good and decent films. But they definitely wouldn’t hold up in this day and age. And horror fans wouldn’t be kind in saying how bad the films are. But no matter how cringe, they are sort of classics. And perfect for spooky season.
