Heart Eyes Review

By: Shanise Lachelle

Welcome Back To the Blog and Happy Monday! Today we will be reviewing the new slasher horror HEART EYES!

Let’s get into it….

Heart Eyes stars Olivia holt ,( Disney Chanel ) and Mason Gooding,( Scream Franchise). As new coworkers who become targeted by the Heart eyes killer , when he mistakes them for a couple.

First things first, I LOVED IT. It was everything I wanted and more. And the first “scary” movie of the year where I wasn’t sad or very emotional after watching. It was purely a fun slasher film and I appreciated that!

The entire premise of a killer going on a spree every year during valentines Day is a good idea for a movie, but overall it’s kind of silly. And this movie didn’t shy away from that at all! I liked all the little jokes and I felt like the chemistry between the actors was so natural! I also felt like their comedic timing was right on cue. And it felt like how genuine young adults would communicate during something as ridiculous as this!

*SPOILERS*

I called the woman police officer being one of the killers RIGHT off the bat! But I didn’t call the other two, and that’s where the movie kind of fell flat for me. And honestly that’s my only complaint. I didn’t like the 3 way killer couple thing, but I honestly didn’t see it coming , so there’s that! just felt like it wasn’t really needed. But I guess it makes sense that a deranged couple is killing lovers on V-Day.

The GORE was insane and I loved it! It wasn’t too much where it would be kind of over kill, but just the right amount for a new slasher film. Some of the most creative kills I’ve seen in a while as well.

I loved that the movie gave us a little back story then hopped right into it! We actually open the movie with a crazy kill scene , and I wasn’t expecting that at all. I am a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, so visually , I thought the movie was gorgeous. and loved the little pops of color here and there.

Over all I’d give Heart Eyes 4/5, I loved it. But for the cheesy plot twist and ending , it could have been just a bit stronger! But it’s definitely a movie I plan to rewatch over and over again! And will become a Halloween and Valentine’s Day staple!!
