The Fog Vs The Mist

By: Shanise Lachelle

Happy Friday! This has been Florida residents first NORMAL week since being smacked with two hurricanes back to back. And it felt kind of good to get back in the swing of things, but absolutely exhausting all the same.

Today I’m doing another VS … this time it being The Fog from 2005 and The Mist from 2007. And talking about which one I ended up liking more… let’s get into it.

Literally just watched this yesterday and was absolutely bored. It blows my mind watching movies back from the middle 2000s, because back as a teenager, these movies absolutely terrified me. Now they are so funny and cringe to watch. Horror has indeed come such a long and impressive way for sure. I did appreciate the originality of it all,( even if it is a remake). But it fell super flat, super fast for me personally. I don’t even know if I would put it on for simple background noise. 2/5
Stephen King simply does not miss. No matter how strange, uncomfortable and wild his movies are, there’s always a touch of reality and heartbreak in them. I rewatch this movie ALL the time and not even during just spooky season. I remember seeing it for the first time and just being so drawn in to each character and how they handled the severity of this intense and unexpected situation. at each point you can kind of relate to each character and the utter chaos . 5/5. I simply have NOT and will never see a movie or experience like this again. That ending was tough and I hate it everytime. But it’s life and it’s REALITY. It’s one of the few movies I desperately want to change the ending to because I just can’t bear it.

So which movie wins this battle ? …..

Obviously The Mist, it didn’t need ghosts or demons. The scariest thing about this movie was how humans , people can literally be the most frightening over all. Yes it’s a monster movie , but it’s also so much more than that at its core .
