Love is Blind Rant+Review

Welcome back to the blog! Today we will chatting about a show I’ve NEVER talked about on this blog, but watch religiously with my family every season. Love Is Blind is a popular Netflix show that centers around people “falling in-love” with their potential lifelong partner without ever seeing them first. A show that started off producing successful couples but has now turned into a dumpster fire where young people are literally just showing up for their five minutes of fame. Let’s get into it…
This reason disrupted my spirit on so many levels ! I thought last season was absolute trash and had birthed some real life villains, but this season just takes the cake. And at this point the whole entire show has just lost the plot and I think they need to give it up.
I literally was only rooting for this couple from the beginning until the end. Their fights were minimal and they seemed to vibe and genuinely like each other. I hope they are still married and happy at the reunion.This couple irritated my soul! From the get go I didn’t get ramses. Not his whole Mr. Progressive and liberal attitude, to his curly fro and those two random locs. And his abundance of gorgeous blouses. And at the beginning I found Marissa hyper and super annoying. And a huge red flag when she casually dropped how she dated a trump supporter for 3 years. but when they got together they seemed loved up and they matched each other so well! I was rooting for them. Until they got into the real world and life started happening. The condom conversation annoyed me. Especially given how dangerous birth control has been proven to be for black women or women of color. That was strike one, strike two was the conversation they had when she wasn’t feeling well and was on her period. He consistently made her feel bad for not performing and being her usual bubbly self and not wanting to be touched. But all while saying “ I’m here for you and I’m trying to understand, but is it always gonna be like this”. Which is super unfair to do to your partner. They are allowed to have off days. Strike 3 was the conversation she tried to have with him about the her military service and how she enjoyed being in the navy but also felt conflicted by it as well. He didn’t seem to want to talk about it and he totally shut down and didn’t support her on it, even knowing previously she was in the navy. And at the end of those 3 conversations I did not like him for her at all but was still hoping they made it , because she loved him so much. The switch up in the end and how he broke up with her was awful to watch honestly. He went from loving her fun bubbly energy to saying he couldn’t deal with it. Which makes zero sense when he was just begging her to be bubbly and affectionate again. No matter how heartbreaking it was to see her completely break down like that, she dodged a bullet and he did her a favor.
The way this show has become about just drama, big reveals and Netflix pushing the whole “let’s find all these toxic couples for ratings” , is getting old. Sure we like one or two toxic couples but we watch the show to see people fall in love based off more than appearance.
Then you have things leaking to the media while the show is still being aired from cast-mates family and friends. Which messes up the whole entire show, as they release two episodes a week. But by the time the last episode rolls around, we’ve already been spoiled with real time information. and it takes away from being excited for the show.
We also need new hosts, as cute as Vanessa and Nick were in the beginning, they don’t do a great job at hosting the reunions. Except last year , they don’t always ask the important questions. They gang up on the wrong members, and the members that need to be talked to , they ignore and it gets swept under the rug.
I’m not even excited for a next season, although I know it’s probably already been filmed . They just need to cancel it already, it was fun at first. But now it’s just showing how much people need to heal and go to therapy.
Love is Blind is not about finding true love anymore, it’s now about finding fame hungry influencers.
