XG is a new Japanese girl group that mix kpop, jpop, and western music as their influences. They’re a mostly HIPHOP/RB group with a mix of pop. They’ve been active since 2022 and have steadily been releasing hit after hits such as “ Shooting Star, Left & right , and New Dance. Recently they released Woke up and I’ve become obsessed. Let’s get into it….

When they debuted they were a hit and their songs were taking off on TikTok. But as most kpop Stan’s do, they’ve seem to let go of all the talent and coolness that XG has and most of their hype has died down. That was until they released WOKE UP.

Woke Up is literally my favorite XG song they’ve released yet!! And it makes me even more excited when they do drop a full album. I’ve been wanting to get into more Japanese pop and hiphop music, and this is my easy way in. All members are Japanese and are fluent In Japanese, English AND Korean.

Woke up is unlike any kpop song I’ve ever heard from a girl group! It doesn’t feel to try hard and it fits them very well, no matter if the haters are saying it’s cultural appropriation or they don’t write their own lyrics.( it’s not and they in fact do write or contribute to their verses.) it goes so hard , that seeing them perform it live on Korean music shows almost felt like it was doing the girls injustice!! They were perfection. Every girl DEVOURS their verse and each verse is better than the last. If promoted right , their label has a potential biggest girl group in the world growing right under our noses.

I’m still getting to know the girls and their personalities, but I can tell you this… they have the strongest female rap line in a girl group right now! And if people take the stick out of their bums and just give them a chance, they’d be pleasantly surprised!
