Welcome Back To The Blog! Today we will be talking about some of my favorite horror remakes vs some of the worst remakes known to man!

Let’s get into it…….

I’m usually against remakes or reboots, especially in the horror genre. But every once in a while there’s one that’s done to absolute perfection and it makes me have faith in the future of horror films. But on the other side of the same coin there have been some pointless and honestly horrible remakes that left me so confused and annoyed! Because why on EARTH was that movie so bad?!

In the past this film was on my favorite remakes list. But over time it just doesn’t hold up well. We were promised to be given a full reboot of the franchise and nothing ever came after this film. The film was decent but just kind of fell flat . And with the added touch of Jason now running full speed after his victims , was a little too much. and it completely takes you out of it, the whole purpose of Jason being scary was that he walked so slow and still got you! Will still watch if it comes on during October. But I much prefer the original franchise .

The worst and most pointless remake ever. And I’m saying this as I went to the movies to see it and laughed through half of the movie! I’ve never even rewatched it for spooky season, that’s just how bad it was. If I remember correctly they changed a few things and none of it made sense or was needed. And I just couldn’t take it seriously. But the original pet sematary still holds up as one of Stephen Kings creepiest films ! They should have never touched it .

A remake of a remake of the original Black Christmas. Honestly if this movie was called anything else, the movie would have made more sense. But the fact they made it seem like a reboot to the original Black Christmas and it’s a completely different film, was a choice . It’s literally so bad and forced , found myself rolling my eyes several times. And I love a good girl power film, but this was just not needed and it didn’t feel authentic.

Now on to some of the remakes done well!

Flawless,10/10 and absolutely no notes!! The original haunted my generation and I feel these films will haunt a new generation to come! Bill Skarsgaurd is amazing as penny wise and delivers 100% . Not to mention the kid actors were brilliant and made the film so much more believable.

This film was the first film I saw that made me start to love horror! And it’s always a spooky season rewatch! I literally will never get enough of this movie and it still holds up all these years later! Honestly one of my favorite horror films ever! obviously never seen the original, but watching this film , makes me want to go back and watch the original and give it a try.

Absolutely AMAZING remake and reboot. First time watching this film and I couldn’t believe my eyes! It was equal parts spooky, gory and great story telling. Like that blood rain scene, still gets me every time . Every inch of this film is beautiful and so good. Instant rewatch , even outside of Halloween!
