Welcome Back To AsToldByShanise! Today we will be reviewing GirlSets newest single, CHAT.

Off first reaction to the trailer, I was initially nervous that this would be the first GirlSet song that I did not like. Labels this summer have ALL been trying to copy that type of fun La garbage pop music that Katseye has become known for. Simple word salad lyrics to a fun beat. But I was quickly proven wrong with Chat.

It’s in NO way a super deep song, but it’s coherent and flows nicely. It’s such a fun summer song and I can honestly see this being played in clubs ! GirlSet personally for me have not had one single miss when it comes to picking their music .

Since their rebrand they’ve been taking their time with making their sound and building a loyal fan base . Which kpop fandoms aren’t necessarily used to. We’re used to comeback after comeback every few months in one year. And GirlSet whether on purpose or not, is breaking down that norm.

The girls look amazing in the video and healthy. Which is a surprise but also so important for them being in the kpop industry. That has such toxic and unrealistic body standards. Seeing as Jyp seems to be pushing them to be more western and global, I hope they keep it up with the healthy and different body types! It’s amazing for young girls to look up too !! if they keep this up, and have better promotion, I can definitely see them becoming a top girl-group!

Overall I give this single 5/5, I absolutely loved it and it’s been stuck in my head since the first time I heard it. Love the look and the chaotic underground club feel of the video . And LOVE the girls new low for this comeback .

I may have to sit down and fully dig into GirlSet and pick a bias . Because they haven’t let me down music wise … YET.
