So I remember declaring back last year when After We Collided came out that I was done with this franchise. But since I’ve watched After We Fell twice, this one just might be the best out of 3 that have been released this far.
I remember being highly frustrated with how rushed and cringe After We Collided seemed. It didn’t flow naturally and there was no real plot it seems. So I gave up on these films, thinking it was only gonna it worse from here on out. From the ever changing cast, to the ever changing directors. And apparently the production company falling out with miss Anna Todd herself. I will admit the films did seem to get better when she was dismissed so…take from that what you will.
After is a fanfic franchise based off on one direction mixed with 50 shades. Back then ,it was super fun and we were young. So we didn’t pay attention to how cringe it was or how it didn’t make sense. Actually maybe we knew and we just went along for the ride, because we love a toxic to healthy love story.
The third film picks up where the last left off and everything is just BETTER. As good as it can be with this story line at least. The pacing is smoother, the acting has calmed down and is BETTER. jo and hero look super healthy and relaxed, and just BETTER.
I was super annoyed with the cast changes, because they were changing major characters every film. But these latest changes seem to be more fitting. None of Hardin’s friends were present in this film, and I know I haven’t read the books in a while, but I could have sworn they were a major part of After We Fell too.
Either way , you notice they’re aren’t there, but they aren’t necessarily missed.
If I had to recommend these films to a friend in order I would go
1. After we Fell
2. After
3. After We Collided
I would honestly give this film 4/5. It was shot beautifully and the cast seemed very at ease and comfortable with the script. They weren’t trying as hard. Of COURSE , there was still some cringe parts, but that’s to be expected with these types of films.
I can Honestly Say, I’m intrigued to see the next two installments. I’m not even sure what’s going on in the after world and if they’re still being made. But if they are, My interest is back open.
