Welcome back to AsToldByShanise! After recently watching Obsession, I was inspired to make a list of films where the Man is the villain. And not in the most obvious ways , but in the everyday type of real life way. After watching these films on the list , it’s sure to provoke something within you and really make you think! because sometimes at the end of the day… there is nothing scarier than a MAN.
Let’s get into it
A film you go into thinking you know exactly how it’s going to play out and there is so many twists and turns ! I originally wanted more of an horror aspect to this, but it’s perfect in its own way. Sophie Thatcher is definitely an actress to watch , as she was extremely compelling as Iris. And carried this film on her back !
Florence Pugh is an acting genius! You feel all her pain , fears , and her worries as things start to unravel and she notices. It’s completely unsettling and the ending is atrocious. Even if this film has a lot of holes and room for improvement, it’s definitely better than a lot of people give it credit for !
Loosely based on Epstein Island and directed by Zoe Kravitz! And what a directing debut it is . The Naomi Ackie an acting domino ! This film let me feeling so unsettled and uneasy. And I’ve not watched it since . But it’s very good and I would definitely recommend it!
The newest film on this list and has caused so much online discussion about dating nowadays and the “nice guy effect”. I LOVED this film , and found it extremely entertaining!! Inde of course is another actress to watch ! And I would love to see her get into more horror and thriller roles! I feel she would completely devour that genre .
I love that writers and directors are starting to make more films based off the horrors of being a woman and dating ! Because in the end, an unhealed man can be the scariest thing in the world .
